COVID-19 APPOINTMENTS UPDATE - 4/16/20
To all of our valued patients,
We are thinking about you during these trying times and understand any feelings of uncertainty regarding your orthodontic treatment. We have been following the events closely. We thank you for your patience as we have evaluated the situation and deliberated how to balance continuing your treatment with the regulations in place.
Orthodontics cannot be done virtually, at-home (duh!) or unsupervised despite what some companies would have you believe. Missing an appointment will not have a significant effect on your treatment. However, a prolonged amount of unsupervised time between appointments has the potential to do more harm than good. Therefore, we will be scheduling patients who are in active treatment (i.e. have braces or other devices attached to the teeth) beginning April 22, 2020. We will call you. This will not be business as usual. We will have a modified schedule to limit the number of patients in the office at any time and practice the distancing that has been recommended. These appointments are to ensure that there are no adverse effects of the braces and that treatment is going according to the treatment plan. We may postpone any long appointments. We will not be starting any braces during this time. Removing braces will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
With this new reality, and to minimize any transmission of anything, we are implementing the following:
—No patients will be appointed if they have a fever, cough, or any other symptoms associated with COVID-19
—We are asking that only patients enter the building. Guardians will wait in the car. If there are any questions, please text or call us during the appointment
—Gloves will be provided at the entrance for use during the appointment
—Patient’s temperature will be taken with a ‘no touch’ thermometer. If elevated, the appointment will be rescheduled
—All patients will swish and gargle with a diluted hydrogen peroxide rinse for 30 seconds after brushing their teeth and before being seated (operatory sink, not brushing station)
—The next appointment will be made at the front desk. If that has to be modified, contact the front as soon as possible
We adhere to universal precautions in our infection control practices. What this means is that we assume that everyone could potentially have an illness and take all the necessary protective steps for everyone. We hope these efforts will allow you to continue your treatment in the safest manner we can provide. Again, we thank you for your patience and your confidence in us. If you feel uncomfortable with any of the above, or just going out in general, that is totally understandable. We will work out a solution for you.
We miss you and will see you soon! We will call you to reschedule, please do not call us.
